Notable Visits to Vijaya
The most notable recent event at Chinmaya Vijaya
was the visit by former President of India, Hon.
Abdul Kalamji. He did the flag hoisting on January
26th of 2010 and
interacted
with the children very intimately. Hon. Abdul
Kalamji has sponsored and paid for a feast-like
lunch on January 26th for all the children and
guests. More than 400 guests attended the event. The
CARE Foundation has pledged to sponsor a lunch
annually at Chinmaya Vijaya on Abdul Kalamji’s
birthday.
The Trustees of CORD visited Chinmaya Vijaya on
February 10, 2010, and participated in the School
Day Celebrations.

News from our children
Eight Chinmaya Vijaya children participated in
Chinmaya Khel Mela, organized in Coimbatore. Ms.
Jhansi of
Chinmaya Vijaya won a gold medal in the long jump.
Who would have thought that an orphan girl will be a
gold medalist! It is all His Maya at work! Gurudev
has shown His miracles many ways!
We have a total of 100 children at Chinmaya Vijaya,
ranging in age from 4 through 11 years. This year
the
schooling
is being done at Chinmaya Vijaya itself, rather than
busing the children to Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Guntur.
Br. Poorvi Chaitanya has developed the syllabus as
per the Chinmaya Vidyalaya curriculum. Considering
the fact that some of these children did not even
know the alphabets when they came to Chinmaya
Vijaya, they have made excellent progress and some
of them are ready to start 6th grade next year.

News from our staff
Sri Lingamaneni Bhaskara Rao Garu
has given us 7 acres of land to use and develop for
an organic vegetable garden. Twenty different
vegetables are being g rown,
and we should have a year-round supply of fresh
vegetables at Chinmaya Vijaya. The vegetable garden
is something to see and enjoy! The ambiance at
Chinmaya Vijaya is enviable. Many of us did not have
the facilities when we were growing up like these
children have.
The construction of 2 hostel buildings, 1 school
building, staff quarters, kitchen and dining hall,
Satsang hall, recreation hall, and the senior
citizens center consisting of
six
kutiyas is complete and is in the final stages of
finishing.
There are a total of 16 employees working at
Chinmaya Vijaya. They all care for the children like
their own. The employees have the Chinmaya spirit in
them and live as one Chinmaya family. It is truly
gratifying and satisfying to see them at work as
true karma yogans.
