Service Visits to CORD Centers in India and Sri Lanka

We are always looking for ways to get people of all ages to be involved with CORDUSA.  Our high school CORD service program is a unique  opportunity for the youth enrolled in the Chinmaya Bala Vihars to experience firsthand the joys of serving the rural communities on the Indian sub continent.  By most accounts the experiences have been so dramatic and impactful that both parents and students continue to enthusiastically engage in service activities as CORD ambassadors.

It is also an avenue to earn volunteer hours for college applications.

These visits are usually planned to coincide with the summer and winter breaks of the high school calendar. CORD USA strives to make this exceptional opportunity available to as many participants as possible.

CORD USA Service Visits: Winter 2019

CORD Siruvani & Deuladiha: December 22nd, 2019 to January 3rd, 2020
Registration fee - $700 per person

Please note: you must meet the visa requirements as per Govt. of India regulations or should have an OCI card to participate in these Service Visits.

All of our service project visits have been very successful, considering the dramatic impact that it has had on the participants. This is also a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours for college applications.  These hours also qualify for Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) hours.

Success of the service visit is very much dependent upon the chaperones. For that reason, we are opening the service visit application only for the chaperones first, and will open for students after this is filled.  If you have a child/children you would like to apply for the service visit, you can mention their names in the “Volunteering Activities”.  They will have to submit a full application separately when it becomes available and should meet the qualifications. However preference will be given to chaperone’s children.

As a chaperone, we require recommendation from your center coordinator.  Please make sure you type all email addresses correctly as we are not responsible for typos in your application.

When you are choosing the service visit center, you may choose one or both of the sites, but make sure about your availability before applying.

Once submitted, you will receive an email acknowledgement. Further information will be sent by email.

Payment and visit details are in the FAQ document. You must download, read and accept terms and conditions before applying.
