We are always looking for ways to get people of all ages to be involved with CORDUSA. As youths, if you have lots of energy and you would like to put them to use, and want to see "Vedanta in action", this is the project for you.
Why would you get involved in a service project? You may at least know one answer to this question: because it is the right thing to do.
If you are tired of seeing trash in your streets, if the thought of people going hungry drives you crazy, if you are worried about the world you are about to inherit, then it's obvious to you that someone has to do something. You can be that someone and also inspire others so that you can work with the like-minded youths in your community to bring about the change.
Please get in touch with your suggestion, and I will be happy to work with you on your local project. It will be a fun and learning experience for all of us!

Service Visits
2012 Summer Service Visit is full...
Where: to CORD, Sidhbari
When: July 8 - July 28 2012 (2 weeks of two groups)
Details: The Camp is for 2 weeks. The first group from July 8th through the 21st and the second group from July 16th to July 28th. The two groups will have a week long overlap to turnover the project and for continuity.
Eligibility: 10-12 Graders

Service Visits to CORD Centers in India and Sri Lanka
We are always looking for ways to get people of all ages to be involved with CORDUSA. We usually have once-a-year service visit to one of the CORD Centers in India or Sri Lanka. Our normal timeframe is in June-July. This is an opportunity for high schoolers enrolled in the Chinmaya Bala Vihars to travel to India and volunteer their time serving the under-served. Admittance to the service visit is on a first come, first served basis. If you are an adult and are interested to chaperon the children, please do contact us and we will equip you with the information, connections and skill set needed.
All of our service project visits have been very successful, considering the dramatic impact that it has had on the participants. This is also a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours for college applications.
This is a wonderful practical exercise to compliment all the years of Bala Vihar learning.

Readathon Kit
We are always looking for ways to get people of all ages to be involved with CORDUSA. This initiative is geared especially for the younger children, who are in the elementary school. One of the things we all want to do is to help our children further their secular and spiritual education. We have a proposal for that, which will enable our children to do exactly that! Our readathons have been very successful in the Summer months, but to our amazement, children continue to read and turn it into donation through out the school year as well!
Read-a-thon is long standing concept, where children read books and the libraries/dear ones give them gifts for reading the books. We propose that you help your child to run a readathon over the summer where the pledges he/she collect will go to help CORD programs. They will feel good about helping the less fortunate ones while getting ahead in their education here. A win-win situation indeed!
We request you to take the initiative and implement this program before the summer recess of Bala Vihar and Yuvakendra classes in your CM Center. Encourage them to do the throughout the year if they would like. We would like to recognize our readathon leaders, please send us the picture, age, and a little about the child!
